Hey Geezers- Spring is almost here.

Just got this email from Friends of NBPT Skate Park. Anyone looking to get involved see Ginny’s and Andi’s contact below:

Dear Friends of Newburyport Skate Park,

It is nearly Spring, and the park will re-open soon! Last season was extremely active for the park, through active use by skaters and through advocacy by the community to support the park’s continued funding. We now have $8,000+ in our FNSP account, and so, we need to decide how to use that money (or some of it).

Andi Egmont, Supervisor of Youth Services for the City of Newburyport, and Supervisor to the Skate Guards, has made a request to us for some funding, and has also requested a meeting – though no date has yet been set.

I’m asking those of you that are willing to meet with Andi and I, to discuss the park’s needs and opportunities, to let me know who you are. Teens and adults are of course, welcome! Please respond via email, but also give me your name, and phone # if possible.

Sincerely,
Ginny Eramo

Dear Friends of the Skate Park,

It’s that time of the year. NYS is planning summer programs as we plan around winter snow storms! I wanted to make sure communication was open as we get closer to spring.

Schedule:
The park is scheduled to re-open for March 12 (with Daylight Savings). I will be sending out notices to returning guards the first week of February to give us time to hire new staff if needed. Staff meeting March 2nd to lay out the spring schedule. I will be meeting with the Superintendent as well to present the management plan (revised last year) and to check in on any other issues.

Maintenance:
The park was closed in great shape with the new concrete down and the sealant completed by skate guards. My plan for the re-opening is to have new signage in place for March 12th and to plan to have guards re-paint the bowls (just around the coping as usual) after the weather turns.

Budget:
I will be submitting a fully funded line item for the guards this year at the $15,000 that you worked so hard for last year J the budget process is just beginning, so I will keep you posted as to

Other Needs:
I would love to schedule a meeting with you before the season begins. Maybe the Friends want to discuss purchasing a new picnic table or two? A shade structure? Things we have discussed for a while… maybe something new?!

Request:
I will be requesting funds from the Friends of the Skate Park for the signage as well as paint materials. I will get quotes for the signs ASAP.

I think that is all for now. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
