I just opened the NBPT gate. It’ll be open through the weekend, though I think today and tomorrow will be best as far as weather goes. There wasn’t any standing water. Part of the north facing walls were wet, especially in the big bowl, but they should be dried out in a few hours. I was able to skate anyway.

So if anyone is going to Rye tonight you may be able to get some runs in if you’re in NBPT before dusk, which according to the world wide internets is 5:23 this evening.

I made my first pilgrimage to Rye last weekend, which pretty much went as planned except the weather outside being glorious! Went up with the wife and we had a little getaway weekend with her shopping in Portsmouth while I skated.

Anyhow, I spent most of the time in the concrete bowl section. I like to ride the smallest one in full snake run mode and get both switchbacks in on the way to the deep end. The big gnarly one is indeed big and gnarly.

What’s up with the middle bowl though? It seems like it is designed to pump through the middle bowl for a double figure 8 speed line, but the left hip going into the deep end just seems too kinked to get in or out of smoothly. I mean, I’m sure it is possible, but does anyone really do anything there other than go back and forth and pump off the hips?
